As business owners most of us have had huge aspirations! Often times though we have had no idea how to get to where we dreamed about being. Specific, realistic goals work best. When it comes to making a change, the people who succeed are those who set realistic, specific goals.
Today I’ve got some Realistic Goal-Setting Tips for you. Maybe your goal is to get 10,000 subscribers, find 500 new customers, start making six figures a year, or anything that just seems to far to get today, then you must Read this!
Don’t Try to Reach Tomorrow’s Goals Today
Big Goals are awesome, they inspire us and motivate us to do more and go further. However, we can’t expect to reach our Big Goals on day one. If you want to get to 10,000 subscribers to your blog, first focus on getting your first 100! Physiologically, when you get that first victory it will encourage you and motivate you more to push forward to your next goal. However, if you started you first goal at 10,000 and reached 100 it would seem like a failure.
Real Life Example:
Lets say your BIG Goal is to make $10,000 per month! Well if your bank account currently has $200 bucks in it, chances are you have no idea what to do next. You need to Earn $300 per day to hit your goal. So let’s say you are selling guitars for $100, you would have to have 3-4 guitars sold each day in order to hit your goal. Sounds pretty easy, but starting from nothing, it isn’t a walk in the park to sell 3 guitars each day. What does it take to sell 3 guitars a day? How much will it cost to advertise, where will you advertise?
If you currently have no marketing strategy in place, have little to no customers yet and have a goal of $10,000 a month, chances are you will be very disappointed very soon. That is why it is important to set Realistic Goals!
These are goals, that with a little time and hard work are actually within reach! The best part is once you reach your realistic goal you can create a bigger goal, and then a bigger goal, and another and another until you reach your Dream Goal!
Break It down
Going back to our first goal of $10,000 a month. To set a realistic goal lets start with a number within reach. Start with a goal of making your first $500, no official time set. Just work as hard as you can to meet that goal. Then reach for making another $500 ($1000 total) then another $500 ($1500 total). Keep meeting your $500 goals until you reach your first $10,000 in revenue. Now that you reached your $10,000 goal you can focus on meeting it a little quicker. Let’s just say it took you 5 months to reach your first $10,000, hopefully your next $10,000 will be made within 4 months, then 3 months and so on. Before you know it, you have reached your Dream Goal!
What is your Big Dream Goal?
What realistic goals will you make to get you there?
